About HTE

About THCa

THCa, or tetrahydrocannabinolic acid, is a naturally occurring, non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in raw cannabis plants. It is the acidic precursor to THC, the well-known psychoactive compound responsible for the “high” associated with marijuana use. THCa is produced by the cannabis plant as a defense mechanism against herbivores and environmental stressors, and it can be found in the highest concentrations in the trichomes, or resin glands, of the plant. When heated, THCa decarboxylates and is converted into THC, which is why smoking, vaping, or otherwise heating cannabis is necessary to experience its psychoactive effects. All THCa products contain less than 0.3% Delta 9 THC in compliance with the 2018 Farm Bill.
